Unfortunately, the American market was quite unfamiliar at the time with the Bulgarian Rose and its benefits. The herb has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine but was fairly unknown in the West. When funds dwindled and interest remained low, Nick nearly gave up on his dream. In fact, he stopped supplying his biggest customer at the time, Mother’s Market. A few weeks later he received a call from their headquarters, asking him to bring his products back on their shelves after customers insisted on having the Bulgarian rose products back.
That’s when Nick knew he was onto something. From that moment forward, he incessantly promoted the product across the LA market, literally pouring samples for curious customers, packaging the product, and distributing himself to select retailers. All the while, he kept dreaming about the day when health-conscious Americans would discover and embrace the Bulgarian Rose.
Eventually Nick’s efforts paid off. He not only pioneered the U.S. market for Bulgarian rose, but he garnered the business of leading LA health stores, juice bars, and spas. One by one, his distributors started mixing the rose nectar into a variety of health drinks for their clients.
In the meantime, Todor pursued his vision to put Bulgaria on the map. Inspired by the story-telling capabilities of social media, he saw an opportunity to inspire tourism to unknown destinations like his native Bulgaria. While his social travel media company never quite gained the traction he wanted, he remained true to his ambition to raise awareness of his homeland.
When Nick approached Todor more than 10 years after they first met, Todor knew that the resources within his company Vangel Capital could catapult Nick’s venture. Since they both grew up in Bulgaria, they had an overwhelming conviction that the Rose was the jewel of Bulgaria and Mother Nature’s best-kept-secret, and something they should share with the world. With this in mind, they joined forces to unveil the potential of the Bulgarian Rose.
